Messing around in boats

“There is nothing… half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats”
Kenneth Graham – Wind in the Willows.

We recently had the team messing around in boats at a couple of sites. However, instead of towing a waterskier they had a depthsounder behind them.  The projects required us to get levels inside a couple of ponds and a lake, and we have a depthsounder that integrates nicely with our field equipment. The depth reading, coupled with the reading from our GPS equipment, allows us to build an accurate picture of the contours of the base of the pond or lake.  In these first few projects we were working in water up to 10m deep.

Here’s a photo of Jesse in the boat at Lake Hood.

Once we’ve got the measurements then we’re able to present the data to the client in a variety of ways, and even run some volume calculations.

So, if your pond is a bit deep for your broom handle, then give us a call. We’d love to help.
