A fond farewell to Sculpture on the Peninsula

Over the last 20 years, Fox and Associates have been proud sponsors of the iconic Sculpture on the Peninsula; the largest contemporary sculptural exhibition in the South Island.
Over the years, this biennial exhibition has showcased the incredible works of leading and emerging sculptors, turning the stunning Loudon Farm in Banks Peninsula into a melting pot of imagination, creativity, and passion.
Those lucky enough to have attended the Opening Friday nights preceding the weekend events, have enjoyed incredibly charming, culinary, and social experiences with gymnasts, acrobats, pole-walkers, and other fire-eaters there to entertain the crowd. Every year the irrepressible Joe Bennett in his inimitable style auctioned competing artists works and loudly coerced people to pay mind-boggling sums!
Hosted by the Lombardy Charitable Trust, proceeds from the event are donated to Cholmondeley Children’s Centre in Governors Bay. To date, over $825,000 has successfully been raised for the centre since the event first began in January 2000.
A truly worthwhile cause, Cholmondeley Children’s Centre has provided respite care and education to more than 25,000 vulnerable children since 1925. Learn more about the centre at: www.cholmondeley.org.nz/.
The Final Sculpture on the Peninsula
After running for more than two decades, the organising committee made the difficult decision that this year’s event would be its last. Whilst we were all hoping to end with a bang, New Zealand’s move to Red forced the cancellation of the event a few days before opening night.
Thankfully, the organisers acted quickly and moved to their contingency plan. By listing the items online for auction, Sculpture on the Peninsula was still able to make a significant donation of at least $75,000 towards Cholmondeley Children’s Centre.
As this was the last event, we would like to acknowledge the talented sculptors, dedicated volunteers, and hardworking organisers for two decades of incredible work. We must also thank our long-time friends and clients, Philip King and Sarah, who generously provided the magnificent Loudon Farm as a venue for many years.
