Project: Lake Hood
Outstanding surveying, engineering and land design work helped create this unique aquatic playground and lakeside residential development.
The Challenge
Lake Hood is a lakeside village for a community of people seeking space, tranquillity, waterfront living and is also a recreational destination for outdoor and water sport enthusiasts.
Before undertaking this unique and extensive project, the Lake Hood Board took proposals from surveying consulting firms around New Zealand. Although only a minnow compared to the three other consultancies (with staff of 80-300), we were chosen to be the lead consultants.
Fox and Associates heads a team resolving unique development problems and creating high-value house sites on a marina with peninsulas and islands surrounded by water.
Our Expertise
Services provided included surveying, urban design, engineering design, and landscape design.
The Solution
The project began with extensive land and aerial survey, which laid the building blocks of our urban and landscape design planning.
This next stage of the development – the Lake Hood Extension Project (LHEP) – will add more than 70ha to the existing reserves, almost doubling the lake size and include planned beaches, canals and islands, dedicated water sport areas, plus a network of walking, cycling and horse riding trails.
The Result
Through innovative solutions and successful project management, we helped to create an award winning lakeside residential village.
